Calendula CO2-extract

Latin Name: Calendula officinalis.
Calendula belongs to the family Asteraceae and is native to Mediterranean countries but is now grown as an ornamental plant throughout the world.
Ingredients: volatile oil, isorhamnetin glycosides including narcissin & quercitin glycosidesincluding rutin, calendulosides A-D, alpha & beta -amyrin, taraxasterol, gamma-taraxasterol, and lupeolFlavonoids; calendic acid, chlorogenic acid, triterpenes, pentacyclic alcohols such as faradol, brein, arnidiol, erythrodiol, calenduladiol, heliantriol C and F, ursatriol, logispinogenine.
Properties: anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, strengthen and comfort the heart, stimulant, diaphoretic, prevents suppuration, anti-spasmodic, lymphatic, astringent, vulnerary, emmenagogue, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, antioxidant.
Fields of application: it is nature's remedy for many of life's little accidents: sunburns, bruises, scratches, insect bites, athlete's foot; slow-healing skin problems, canker sores, inflammation in the mouth or throat, stomach upset, ulcers, acne, bleeding, varicose veins, sprains, wounds, fever, children's ailments, ear infection, gall-bladder problems, indigestion, capillary engorgement, hepatic & splenic congestion, diarrhea.
Calendula CO2-extract is successfully used in food industry, cosmeceutics, beauty and skin care products.
In cooking Marigold is often used to flavor and color broths, butter, cheese, vegetable dishes, salads—particularly egg salad—custards and puddings, herb butters, baked goods, with grains and in mild-mannered soups.
Also, in poultry breeding, marigold is commonly added to chicken feed to produce darker egg yolks.
In mouthwashes and gargles, calendula soothes sore throat or mouth tissue; in solutions, it treats hemorrhoids; in lotions and ointments it relieves acne, burns, diaper rash, insect bites, razor burns, scrapes and other relatively minor conditions of the skin or mucous membranes. Calendula cream may help to protect against skin damage from chemicals.
In cosmeceutics and skin care products, recommended concentration of Calendula CO2-extract is 0.1 – 1%, in formulations for chapped, dry or damaged skin - 1-5%.
Caution: Calendula is generally considered safe for topical application.
People, who are sensitive to plants in the daisy or aster family, including chrysanthemums and ragweed, may also have an allergic reaction to calendula (usually a skin rash).
Calendula should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
